If something happens, it won’t be long before I’m found. I always carry a knife, matches and a compass with me. I navigate with an app. Before leaving, I check where to head if I need to find the closest road with the compass. From time to time, I practice building a fire in the woods. I think more important than staying warm is to stay dry. Two layers of woolen shirts is often enough from a few minus degrees down to twenty degrees. Karkuvaara had a view to some of the first hills I visited in Posio and also to the Karitunturi fells I’m planning to visit soon. Turjanvaara had views to some familiar hills too.”
