Posio – where the lakes are many and the people are few.

The municipality of Posio is a paradise for lake fishers thanks to the 3000 or so lakes and ponds within its borders. Its most important lakes include the clear-watered Kitkajärvi and Livojärvi and the two Suolijärvi lakes in northern Posio. Each lake has their unique fish stock, but usually you are guaranteed to return home with a catch of pike, perch, trout, whitefish or famous vendace “the wise of Lake Kitkajärvi”.

 The free-flowing Livojoki river is the best for river fishing. In the winter, the thousands of lakes in the area guarantee plenty of ice fishing options.
